What does an internship involve?

Article Date :2 Dec 2010

The internship is a year-long period of "learning on the job".  You work in an estate agency, learn the ropes from the principal and your more experienced colleagues, and attend classes to learn the theory.  You complete several assignments during the course of the year, and your progress is formally assessed from time to time.  You and the principal of the firm must complete a logbook which records your progress and assessments.

At the end of the internship, you will have a final "summative assessment", and if you're rated as "competent" then you've earned the FET Certificate in Real Estate.  If not, you can extend the internship can be extended until such time as you qualify.
