Property Investment conference in July

The measurement and benchmarking of property performance has taken on a new urgency in the wake of recent global challenges and South Africa’s own changing dynamics.
For this reason, the theme of the eighth annual Investment Property Databank (IPD)/Sapoa conference in July, sponsored by Old Mutual Investment Group Property Investments, is changing dynamics in SA property. The focus is intended to enable investors who are interested in the various property sectors to make informed decisions to achieve maximum benefit.
“There is a lot of data available,” says IPD SA managing director Stan Garrun. “However, knowing how to apply this information strategically is what provides the competitive edge. We are bringing together the foremost thinkers and property experts to help us better understand the exciting and complex environment in which we do business.”
As the global leader in property analysis, the London-based IPD is well-positioned to team up with the SA Property Owners Association (SAPOA) and provide an in-depth property investment conference that will give delegates a number of different opportunities to explore.
The conference will feature international and local speakers, encouraging the sharing of experiences from all parts of the globe.
Visiting South Africa to share their insights are Dr Wilfred Anim-Odame of the respected Cass Business School in the UK, now resident in Ghana; the IPD chief for Australia and New Zealand, Anthony de Francesco; and UK-based Consultancy International principal Martin Fleishman.
The strong line-up of local speakers includes journalists Dennis Beckett and David Williams, Mike Flax managing executive of Redefine, Dries Du Toit independent consultant strategist, Dr Andrew Golding CE of Pam Golding Properties, and Andre Stadler managing director of Catalyst Securities.
A highlight of the IPD programme, returning by popular demand, is a master class in property development for senior property executives, led by Francois Viruly, professor of property studies at Wits University. Viruly will be joined by Jess Cleland, head of IPD Research, and a panel of developers and investors.
“Viruly’s’ class brings the academic and the practical together in a powerful specialised workshop,” says Garrun.
The IPD/SAPOA Property Investment Conference will take place at the Westin Grand Hotel in Cape Town on July 29 and 30.
