Institute launches online sales data service   Article Date :4 Aug 2006 The Institute of Estate Agents' Western Cape region has launched an exclusive online property sales data service for its members. Propstats, as it is called, was launched in Somerset West on March 29, and will soon be rolled out in other centres in the province. The free service provides IEA member agencies with up-to-date suburb-by-suburb information about property sales, which they can use for comparative market analyses and statistical purposes, and will include country areas and Peninsula townships which are not all covered by existing data services. IEA regional chairman Peter Venter describes Propstats as another important milestone for the IEA. "It's part of our commitment to provide our members with more benefits and value for their annual fees. We've had positive feedback from our members, and enquiries from a number of estate agents from outside the Institute. Indications are that many of them are likely to join us in order to gain access to Propstats. ''This service will also contribute to the professionalism and quality of service which our members provide to their clients, as they will have access to the very latest sales statistics which they need to produce up to date comparetive market analyses. The difficult task of pricing a property correctly will be made easier.'' Propstats is user-driven. Participating estate agencies can upload information about their sales via the Propstats website (www.propstats.co.za), and draw information from the pool of data that is built up. A range of search criteria is available for retrieving data, and Venter says the database has been designed to be simple and user-friendly. The IEA will provide telephonic support.
