News from IEA area committee.
The past few weeks have seen the entire Overstrand area, spanning the coastline from Pringle Bay to Pearly Beach, experiencing the formerly singular and sporadic joys of a property “boom” with some 30-odd sales having taken place in the greater Hermanus area alone. Without doubt, this current state of affairs will continue to accelerate unabated in relative velocity to the ever-tumbling rand…. with the Cockney and German accent strongly rivaling that of the once familiar South African. It is encouraging to know that membership of the Institute of Estate Agents South Africa (IEASA) in the Western Cape has increased dramatically over the past year. Hopefully the pledge of commitment to the high ethical obligations and adherence to a specific code of conduct will help uplift the “professional esteem” of the erstwhile commely regarded estate agent, in the eyes of the general public. This should automatically be assumed on the undertaking of membership by each and every member, under threat of disciplinary action. Although all estate agents holding a valid Fidelity Fund Certificate might indeed be eligible for membership of the IEASA, it is important for the public to know that “zero tolerance” will be exercised by our committee should any member of the Overstrand area be found to transgress the basic principals and standards of the IEASA. We are extremely proud to be members of the Institute of Estate Agents SA and believe that it is in the public interest to deal exclusively with an estate agent holding the MIEASA designation. On behalf of all our members, we extend a warm welcome to all our newcomers to the Overstrand area and “A happy and prosperous property transaction!” to those yet intending joining our community.
