IEASA National - FAQ

Question: How do I become an estate agent?

  FAQ Date :2 Dec 2010

Answer:

You need to join an estate agency firm and, through that firm, register with the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) www.eaab.org.za   If you meet the current qualification requirements (introduced in 2008), you'll be registered as a "non-principal" estate agent.  If not, you'll be registered as an "intern" estate agent until you qualify to as a "non-principal".

Once you've registered with the EAAB, we encourage you to join the IEASA.

Please note that if you're insolvent, or of unsound mind, or have ever been dismissed from a position of trust because of improper conduct, or have been convicted by a court of an offence involving dishonesty, then you're disqualified from entering the profession.  The EAAB does, however, have the discretion to set aside a disqualification.
